The run seemed to help!!

I still feel great after my run this morning.  In all honesty, i thought my back would be very tight by now. Normally the pain is so bad after i have been sitting down it takes me a few moments to stretch out my back, and for the pain to go away.  This pain in my hip and back that have caused me so many problems, didn't bother bad at all today.

So i am guessing the fact that i went easy and didn't push my body too hard, was a very good thing.  Also I would think the bouncing of my spine as i ran allowed blood to get into the inflamed area between the discs that are causing me the pain.

I am going to give a great deal of the credit for my quick recovery and feeling good after my run to two products.  The first is Biofreeze. I use the roll-on applicator, since it's difficult to reach my spine area by myself.  I discovered this product about six weeks ago and it is amazing.  I makes your skin feel cool and doesn't smell very strong, at all.  The special thing about Biofreeze is, it contains Llex. It's an herbal extract that soothes areas of discomfort and pain by naturally relieving inflammation.  Llex also relieves nerve pain associated with many back problems from bulged disks.

The other product I just found two weeks ago is Blu-Emu.  Don't let the name scare you.

It works very well and has no odor at all; that's right no stinky gym smell.  It is a little different than Biofreeze because it doesn't feel like much of anything when you apply it to your skin.  The only way i can describe how it feels is, if someone is putting pressure on the area you apply it to.

I use both of these in addition to applying ice on my back.  This combination has helped to eliminating taking 3 Aleve every day and pain killers at night.

1sr run in 18 months

I just went on my first run in 18 months! My back has been feeling a little better, and what put me over the edge was picking up the new Triathlete magazine. I use to race in Triathlons and I miss it a great deal.

I have been swimming the last two weeks and that has seemed to help with my back. It was sunny out this morning when I got up and said what the hell. I grabbed the dog and headed out the house.

I will be honest i was nervous about going for a run. I didn't want to make my back worse or cause myself to be injured worse. But sometimes you just have to go out and do it and see what happens. I am tired of being held hostage to my back pain.

The first mile was not great at all my right hip and leg was tight and tender. I fought through the pain and the last mile was amazing. The adrenalin must have kicked in because it felt like it was just another run and i had not taken anytime off.

I will get back to going through what i have done to help me with my back pain and the things i have been through.

I am just very excited about being able to go for a run and i will post how my back feels latter. My fear is its going to get very tight but I hope not.

How I was Injured

I remember the day my back got injured. Well I am sure it was helped along by the many number of stresses I put on my back growing up. There was the crashing of a 3 wheeler off a 80 foot ravine when I was 14. There was the car crash I was a passenger in when we drove straight into the back of a Pinto that had no tail lights. We were going about 65 mph and then flipped into a 15 foot ditched. This is the short list of accidents don’t even get me started with all the mountain bike crashes I have had.

It’s funny I walked away from all these accidents and never was injured. It wasn’t till I was carrying a large piece of granite through a door way that I messed up my back. I had to step up a step and turn to my right to get through the door and felt a “POP”!

That was all just a pop I felt a little pain but nothing major. I kept working and didn’t think anything of it.
Well as the weeks passed I started to have more and more pain. It sucked and it hurt at times but not all of the time and I figured I just pulled something and it would get better.

That was 18 months ago, and I am still not better.

Living with my back pain

HI, I am going to write about my ups and downs over the last 18 months of back pain.  I will talk about things i have done to try and make my back pain more manageable.  I have tried just about everything thing a person can try to help with back pain.  somethings worked for me and some didn't.

I would like to say i am not a doctor and you should consult with your doctor before you try any of the things i have tried.  I will also say i went against my doctors suggestions in some cases.

I know it sucks to have back pain that keeps you from doing the simplest tasks.  I have always been very fit and athletic and the back pain at times hand rendered me helpless.  I have 2 daughters and it kills me the days i cant even pick them up to play with them. However i am 100% against surgery so i have put a lot of time and effort into finding a way to make my back stronger and hope some day it will go back top normal.

I will talk about exercises that i use work out routines and supplements i use to help.
